From classroom debate to arguing about the best “sosc” sequence

“There’s something unique about UChicago students. In my experience, it’s this exchange of ideas that you hear the administration talking about — students here really take it to heart. Being able to have these deep, sometimes-academic-sometimes-otherwise conversations, even outside of the classroom, is compelling to us. For example, everybody enjoys arguing about which ‘sosc’ sequence is the best; stuff like that just kind of pops up everywhere and really augments the academic experience.”

Louis DiModica, Class of 2026, is studying economics and religious studies. He’s the social chair for the University Ministry of Christ Church Chicago (UMC), an RSO affiliated with a local church. He plays club water polo and is a member of Cana — a student-run, Christian ecumenical publication.
