Making the most of access to world-renowned academics

“I went to a smaller high school, so making sure that I could really connect with professors in college mattered to me. I found this at UChicago. Professors are well-known and recognized in their field (they’ll often cite their own research or share areas of a study that they’re spearheading), but as their student, there aren’t many barriers to connecting with them beyond the classroom. You’ll always see a line of students talking with the professor after class.”

Jordan Yi (photo, far left) is a member of the Class of 2024, majoring in visual arts and double minoring in neuroscience and linguistics. Throughout her time in the College, she has hosted a show on Midwave Radio, taught piano lessons through the South Side Free Music Program, and currently serves as the vice president of Lean On Me (a peer support textline). She hopes to work in the tattoo industry after getting her masters in management.
